FairletCheck your rent

Why I built it

Rent used to be a landlord reading their own street. More and more, it's pricing software reading everyone's street at once, and nudging the whole market up together. The tenant turns up to that with a guess and a gut feeling, and the other side turns up with a database.

There's a name for that kind of squeeze, and I ended up writing a book about it, called Grift, Inc. Fairlet is meant to be the opposite of the thing the book is about. It takes the same sort of market data the software uses, the real published figures, and points them at you instead. No account, no ads, and nothing you type leaves your device.

It won't win your negotiation for you. It'll just tell you where your rent actually sits against the local market, so you walk in knowing the number instead of guessing at it.

If that idea lands with you, the book is at griftinc.com.
